You’ll need black tea leaves, water, milk, sugar (optional), and your masala spices—cardamom, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and black pepper.
Start by boiling water in a pan. Add freshly crushed masala spices (cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger) into the boiling water. Let them simmer for a couple of minutes to release their flavors.
Now, add 1-2 teaspoons of black tea leaves into the boiling water. Let it brew for 2-3 minutes until the tea turns a rich amber color.
Add milk to the tea, as per your preference (usually about half a cup). Let it come to a boil while stirring occasionally. Adjust the amount of milk for a creamier or lighter tea.
If you prefer your tea sweet, add sugar to taste at this stage. Stir well to dissolve the sugar completely.
Let the tea simmer for a couple more minutes to blend the flavors. Once done, strain the tea into cups using a fine sieve.
Your perfect cup of masala tea is ready! Serve it hot and enjoy with your favorite snacks.
