To make butterscotch cake you'll need flour (maida), butterscotch essence, sugar, milk, butter, vanilla extract, baking soda, yogurt, and a pinch of salt.
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease and line a round or square cake tin with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk together the yogurt, sugar, butterscotch essence, butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
In a separate bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. This helps to ensure there are no lumps in the flour.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing with the milk. Stir gently to combine the ingredients.
Pour the prepared batter into the greased cake tin and spread it evenly. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes.
Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the tin for about 10 minutes.
