8 lip-smacking Korean food to try in Delhi

Gamjajeon

Gamjajeon is a popular breakfast recipe from Korea that is prepared with just three ingredients- potato, onion, and salt. Gamjajeon is very similar to hash browns and is paired with a sauce that is prepared by quickly mixing soya sauce, vinegar, sesame seeds, and chopped green chillies.

Bingsu

Koreans aren't big fans of desserts but Bingsu is an exception. This popular Korean dessert is made with frozen berries, vanilla ice cream, ice, and fruits like mango, kiwi, blackberries, figs, raspberries, strawberries, and pomegranate. Some shaved ice and fruits are arranged in a bowl.

Ramen

Ramen is probably the most popular Korean dish that is quite a hit among the millennials. These instant noodles can be found in every street food shop in Korea and have now even come to India. You can easily find Korean Ramen in supermarkets or order the same through online websites.

Korean Fried Chicken

Korean Fried Chicken is a lip-smacking chicken dish that was popularised by the K-Drama ‘Crash Landing On You’. It is first marinated with a variety of ingredients, then deep-fried twice to make it extra crispy and lastly coated with a mixture of soy sauce, garlic, and honey, which gives it a perfect glaze.

Mandu

Mandu from Korea is very similar to our Momos. Mandus contains a stuffing of veggies along with beef, pork, or chicken. They are either steamed, deep-fried, or served in soup. Mandus is served with a special sauce mixture prepared using chilli, soy sauce, and vinegar.

Bibimbap

When talking about Korean cuisine, how can we forget the popular Buddha bowl of Korea- Bibimbap? This dish is not only beautiful to look at because of its presentation but also offers a melange of flavours. Bibimbap is usually served in a stone bowl and contains rice, vegetables, meat, sprouts, eggs, and Gochujang (a spicy Korean sauce).

Tteokkbokki

Also called spicy rice cakes, Tteokkbokki looks quite similar to pasta in appearance. This staple street food of Korea was seen in famous K-dramas like ‘The Heirs’ and ‘I Am Not a Robot’. The main highlight of this dish is its lip-smacking sauce which is used to coat the rice cakes and make them extra flavourful.

Japchae

If you are a fan of Noodles, then you need to try Japchae from Korea. Also called glass noodles, Japchae is prepared using sweet potato which gives them a glass-like appearance. Japchae is stir-fried with several spices, vegetables, and sauces and then garnished with sesame seeds before serving.

Kimchi

Kimchi is one of the most popular Korean foods that is easily available in India. In large supermarkets, you can find tinned boxes or packets of Kimchi. It is a salad made with fermented cabbage which is called ‘Baechu’ in Korea.
