Beat softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar together until smooth and fluffy for a creamy mixture.

Add two eggs, one at a time, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined and smooth.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt, then gently fold into wet ingredients.

Step 5

Fold in 2 cups of chocolate chips (and nuts, if desired) using a spatula for even distribution.

Step 6

Scoop dough into 1-2 inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.

Step 7

Bake for 9-11 minutes until golden around the edges. Cool cookies on a wire rack. Enjoy!
