The temple was built in 1864 by Swami Haridas, a famous saint and musician.
The idol of Lord Krishna in this temple is unique because it is entirely black. It is believed that the idol appeared on its own and chose this form.
The temple priests use only Tulsi (holy basil) leaves for offering to Lord Krishna.
