When Earth is precisely between the Moon and the Sun, Earth’s shadow falls upon the surface of the Moon, dimming it or causing it to darken. This is when a lunar eclipse takes place.
The first lunar eclipse of the year 2024 will be on March 25. It will coincide with Holi in India. It's going to be a penumbral lunar eclipse.
The Moon travels through the Earth’s penumbra or the faint outer part of its shadow. The moon dims only slightly and unless you know a lunar eclipse is happening, you might miss it.
The first lunar eclipse of 2024 will take place on March 25. It will start at 10:23 am and conclude by 3:02 pm. But this eclipse won't be visible in India.
While the Lunar eclipse will coincide with Holi, the celebrations for the latter won't be affected. As the eclipse won't be visible in India, the inauspicious sutak period won't be applicable.
The second lunar eclipse of 2024 will be a partial lunar eclipse. The eclipse will be visible in the skies on September 18.
The year 2024 will see two solar eclipses too. The first Solar Eclipse of 2024 falls on April 8. It will be a Total Solar Eclipse. The second Surya Grahan is on October 2. It will be an Annular Solar Eclipse.
