Gather Ingredients:

You will need 4 cups of whole milk, ¼ cup of basmati rice, 4-6 tablespoons of sugar, ½ teaspoon of cardamom powder, and nuts like cashews and almonds.

Wash the Rice:

Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.

Boil the Milk:

In a heavy-bottomed pot, bring the milk to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.

Add Rice:

Once the milk boils, add the drained rice and reduce the heat to low. Cook for about 25-30 minutes, stirring frequently.

Incorporate Sugar:

When the rice is soft, stir in the sugar and cook for 10 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.

Add Flavorings:

Mix in the cardamom powder and any optional ingredients like saffron or rose water for added flavor.

Serve:

Garnish with chopped nuts and serve warm or chilled according to your preference. Enjoy your delicious Kheer!
