Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on September 5,1888 in Thiruthani, Tamil Nadu.

Dr. Radhakrishnan attended Christian College in Madras to study philosophy.

He was a professor at several universities, such as the University of Calcutta and the University of Mysore.

Vice Chancellor

He held the position of Vice-Chancellor at Banaras Hindu University, Andhra University, and Delhi University.

UNESCO

In 1948, Radhakrishnan assumed the role of chairman of the organisation's executive board after leading India's mission there.

President & Vice President

In 1952, he was sworn in as India's first Vice President, and two years later, as its second President.

Awards

In 1954, he was presented with the Bharat Ratna. He was also shortlisted for the Nobel Prize 27 times
