The stunning resignations of Miss USA 2023 Noelia Voigt and Miss Teen USA 2023 UmaSofia Srivastava.
The Miss USA organization, which oversees both pageants, has come under fire for allegations of mismanagement, a hostile work environment, and conditions that led, in particular, to Voigt's resignation due to her role affecting her mental health, according to reports.
Voigt, 24, who represented Utah at Miss USA, wrote a long but cryptic post, citing her mental health.
Venezuelan-American Voigt, the first Miss Utah USA and Miss USA, attended Pine View School for the Gifted in Osprey, Florida, and initially wanted to compete in pageants.
At 16, Voigt faced bullying, leading to an anti-bullying campaign. In 2021, she wrote Maddie the BRAVE, inspired by a 9-year-old's suicide.
Srivastava, 16, who represented New Jersey at Miss Teen USA, released a statement on Instagram saying that her personal values “no longer fully align” with those of the organiation.
Srivastava, a first-generation Mexican-Indian American, won Miss New Jersey Teen USA and later crowned Miss Teen USA, with the goal of becoming a UN ambassador.
Srivastava has also written The White Jaguar to encourage people of all ages, which is available in English, Spanish, Hindi, and French.
