1964 – Pamban-Dhanushkodi Train Accident

The Pamban-Dhanushkodi train had been struck by a cylone, which eventually washed away the train, causing the lives of over 125 passengers.

1981 – Bhagmati River Train Accident

Some back coaches of a passenger train fell into the gushing Bhagmati River, killing at least 800 people.

1988 – The Peruman Railway Accident

An express train full of passengers crashed into a lake near to Quilon in Southern India (Kerala), causing the death of over 106 people. At least 10 coaches fell into the lake due to the derailment of the train.

1995 – Firozabad Rail Disaster

A collision of two high speed train took the lives of over 350 people. In Firzobad, a passenger train slammed into another stopped-train.

1999 – Gaisal Train Accident

A collision of two trains at the remote West Bengal railway state of Gaisal took the lives of at least 285 passengers.

2005 – Velugonda Train Accident

Some coaches of a passenger’s train derailed in October 2005 in the Southern Andhra Pradesh, casuing the death of at least 77 lives.

2011 – Fathepur Train Accident

A mail train crashed into a passenger train on July 10, 2011 causing the death of around 70 people.

2016 – Indore-Patna Express Accident

An express train derailed in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, killing 146 people.

2017 – Andhra Pradesh Train Accident

A passenger train derailed in southern Andhra Pradesh, killing at least 41 people in January 2017.

2023 – Odisha Train Accident

Three trains crashed into each other, killing around 300 people in Balasore area of Odisha. The accident included two passengers and one mail.
