7 Tips to Know If Someone's Giving You Bad Advice

Aug 01, 2024

Be Clear

When asking for advice, make sure you are clear and you know what you need in the end result.

Only Talks and Don’t Listen

The person you’re asking for advice must listen to your problems. But if they only talk and don't listen to your problem then you might need to pass on them.

Know if they’re Interested

If the person is distracted or is not giving you the preferred advice, then it means they are not interested in listening to you.

See if they Understand You

If they are not understanding your problem or your point of view, then there’s no need to fight with them and prove your point.

Focus on end result and not the process

If the advice given to you only tells what the result is going to look like and doesn't focus on the process of it, then the advice is of no use and they probably don’t want to help you.

Emotional Advice

Though emotional advice is good during emotional situations, if you’re looking for practical advice then ask someone who can think practically rather than thinking emotionally.

Trust Yourself

If you’re not able to get any clear or practical advice from anyone then trust your instincts and believe in yourself.
