Asteroid To Hit in 2046

US space agency NASA has warned that an asteroid may hit Earth in 2046, exactly 23 years later.

NASA Is Tracking

The space agency is tracking the asteroid and its trajectory has shifted towards the blue planet.

The Name Of Asteroid Is 2023 DW

“We've been tracking a new asteroid named 2023 DW that has a very small chance of impacting Earth in 2046,” NASA Asteroid Watch tweeted.

It Will Be Tracked

“Often when new objects are first discovered, it takes several weeks of data to reduce the uncertainties and adequately predict their orbits years into the future,” it added.

Asteroid Orbital Period

As of now, the closest approach of the asteroid to collide to Earth is on February 14, 2046. The asteroid takes about 271 days to complete one solar orbit, which is called the orbital period.
