Open the Settings app on your Android smartphone.
Look for options like "Connection," "Connection and Sharing" (for Xiaomi), or "Mobile Network" (for OnePlus) and select it.
Choose "Data Usage" to see a list of apps using background data.
Locate and tap on "WhatsApp" from the list of apps.
Toggle off the switch labeled "Allow background data usage" to disable this feature for WhatsApp.
Confirm the action by selecting "OK" or "Disable" when prompted.
Exit the Settings app, and background data usage for WhatsApp will now be disabled on your Android smartphone.
