In the year 2022, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkey would now be identified by its Turkish name Turkiye. The word Türkiye represents and expresses the culture, civilization, and values of the Turkish nation in the best way.
Iran’s official name was Persia till 1935. The Iran was the name of the country in Persian, which was adopted after the government asked countries it has diplomatic ties with to officially refer to the country as Iran.
It was ruled by King Siam and was known by that name but in 1939 the King changed its name to Thailand after it became a constitutional monarchy.
The ruling Junta military changed the name from Burma to Myanmar in 1989.
Holland’s name was changed in the year 2020. The country had two regions North and South became the Netherlands which was also looked at as a move to promote tourism.

Zimbabwe changed the colonial name of Rhodesia after it gained independence from the Republic of Zimbabwe, later it was renamed to Zimbabwe.
Cambodia has a history of name changes according to the changing leaders and political parties. The United Nations named it the State of Cambodia which was again renamed Cambodia in 1993.
Czechoslovakia was divided into the Czech Republic and the Soviet Socialist Republic against the backdrop of the latter's collapse. With an easier-to-remember name, the Czech Republic hopes to grow its business by becoming known as Czechia.
