Japan was rocked by another strong earthquake on Wednesday, just two days after a 7.6-magnitude quake struck the country and triggered tsunami concerns.

Japan was shaken by a 5.9-magnitude earthquake, with authorities confirming that no tsunami warning was issued. The tremor was felt most strongly in eastern Aomori and parts of Hokkaido and occurred at a depth of around 30 kilometres.

The latest quake comes after a 7.6-magnitude earthquake on Monday and a 6.7-magnitude tremor in Honcho on Tuesday. At least 51 people were injured in Monday’s powerful quake, and officials have cautioned that further seismic activity cannot be ruled out.
