New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday saluted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers for their efforts in securing victory in Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly polls.

After it emerged that the BJP will take power both in Maharashtra, where it finished the single largest group in a hung assembly, and Haryana, where it was poised to get a majority on its own, PM Modi tweeted: "Historic results! A matter of immense happiness & pride for BJP. I salute our Karyakartas for their tireless efforts."

For the first time, the Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged with clear mandate in Haryana. PM thanked the people of Haryana for their verdict, and tweeted: "Thanks to the people of Haryana for giving us the opportunity to fulfil their dreams & to take Haryana's development journey to new heights."

Modi also thanked the voters of Maharashtra for instilling faith in his party. The BJP looks poised to win 120 seats in the 288-member Maharashtra assembly. PM tweeted: "My gratitude to the people of Maharashtra. We are committed to Maharashtra's progress & creating a Maharashtra the world will be proud of."
