Congress, BJP ignored migrants in Delhi: Mayawati
Alleging that Congress and BJP governments in Delhi have ignored migrants, BSP chief Mayawati on Friday promised that if voted to power her party will resolve the issues being faced by them.
New Delhi: Alleging that successive Congress and BJP governments in the national capital have ignored migrants, BSP chief Mayawati on Friday promised that if voted to power her party will resolve the issues being faced by them.
Mayawati also promised to address problems faced by minorities, migrants and people belonging to economically weaker section.
"Delhi is a state with a large population of migrant workers. Poverty is a major issue in our country that forces people to shift to metros for livelihood. But both Congress and BJP met out step motherly treatment to them," said Mayawati while addressing a rally in Najafgarh here. "The Congress and BJP have barely done anything for the uplift of poor. We promise to bring development in the capital the same way as it was done in Uttar Pradesh during our regime," she said.
BSP chief`s speech largely focused on the strategies that BSP would formulate to resolve issues faced by the minorities, migrants and the economically weaker section.
Mayawati termed rising prices of essential commodities and corruption as the biggest problems. "Sky rocketing prices have left the poor of the capital in a much poorer state," she said. She also criticised the Delhi government for not being able to provide adequate safety to the women, saying the "law and order situations is deteriorating".
Besides the SC/ST and OBC vote bank, the party is also trying to woo as many Muslim voters as possible.
Addressing a massive crowd that largely constituted of migrant workers, Muslims and people from the underprivileged sections, Mayawati made promises of improving their situations if BSP candidates are voted to power in the Assembly elections.
She appealed to people to cast their votes in favour of all the 69 seats on which BSP candidates are contesting in the Delhi polls.
"No development is possible without the women of our country. Therefore I appeal to my sisters and mothers that they must cast their ballot on December 4 in favour of the development and in favour of BSP," said Mayawati.
