New Delhi: Most active users in India spent over four hours per day in apps — that’s the equivalent of half a standard workday, according to a study by app analytics firm App Annie.
App Annie looked at the top nine countries in terms of total hours spent in apps on Android phones and found that in half of those countries ( South Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, and India), the top 20% (meaning the most active users) spent over four hours per day in apps.
“In Mexico and Brazil, users at the median spent three hours per day in apps. In India, users at the median spent slightly less — a bit more than 2.5 hours per day. In all three countries, those at the bottom 20 percent still spent 1.5 hours per day in apps,” the report said.
Games rank number 1 in terms of gross revenues in each of these countries across the board (on Google Play, not accounting for third-party Android stores).
The study further said that the countries that qualify as leaders in terms of time spent on Android phones are important to look at because they represent a wide range of markets.
In the study, India, Brazil and Mexico have been kept under “emerging market” while United States, South Korea, and the United Kingdom qualified as well-established ones.
