Former state minister and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Rajpur constituency Devi Singh Patel died of heart attack on late Sunday night.

His death comes just three weeks ahead of the Assembly elections in the state. He was contesting against Congress leader Bala Bachchan this year. 


Patel was the state minister in Uma Bharati's cabinet. 


A four-time MLA, Patel won from Anjar constituency three times and once from Rajpur.


In 2013, he lost the elections to Bachchan from Rajpur. 


His last rites will be performed at 3pm in village Bandarkach, where he breathed his last.
