Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Tiago-based sedan, the Tigor, on March 29, 2017. Although Tata Motors has not officially confirmed it yet, several dealers are already accepting bookings for the sub-4 metre sedan. You can get one booked at a refundable amount of Rs 11,000.
In terms of design, the Tata Tigor shares most of its styling cues with the hatchback it is based on. Like the Tiago, which is the most feature-loaded car in its segment, the Tigor promises to outgun its rivals. The company recently revealed the full details of the Tigor and some of the standout features include smoked projector headlamps, dual-tone front bumper, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED-powered tail lamps and LED stop light strip on top of the rear windshield. The fresh set of Tata Tigor images, showing its interior and exterior design have been revealed already.
Inside the cabin, the Tigor comes with the same eight-speaker Harman music system and it is mated to a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display. While the display can be used to play videos and read out SMSes, it also acts as a monitor for the reverse camera. More new features include automatic climate control, a second 12V charging point for the rear passengers, and an armrest with cupholders in the back seat.
To keep the price in check, the Tigor will be offered with the same petrol and diesel engines that do their duty under the hood of the Tiago. That means, the 1.2-litre, three-pot petrol motor is tuned to produce 85PS of power and 114Nm of torque, and the 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel belts out 70PS of power and 140Nm of torque. Both the engines will be offered with a five-speed manual transmission. We expect the homegrown automaker to launch the AMT variant to the Tigor’s line-up in the near future.
