Air India Express today reached an agreement with the crew members and addressed their all concerns, said the airline in a statement. Both the crew and management members have agreed to restore normal airline operations, it said. The termination of 25 crew members of Air India Express has also been overturned as per the agreement.
Air India Express faced a massive crisis on May 7 and 8 after cabin crew members reported sick-en-mass which affected around 90 flights. The airline then terminated 25 crew members for violations of company policies.
"Today, both the parties are present and held conciliation proceedings. After detailed discussions, deliberations, persuasion and an appeal of the Conciliation Officer and Chief Labour Commissioner (central), the representatives of the union (members of cabin crew) agreed that all the cabin crew members who have reported sick will report for duty with fitness certificate immediately," said the company in a statement.
The company further said that it agreed to reinstate 25 cabin crew on the appeal of the Chief Labour Commissioner. "...the management agreed to reinstate 25 cabin crew who have been terminated on 7th and 8th May 2024 for reporting sick as a concerted action immediately. The management will review the cases of these cabin crew as per service regulations," said the airline.
It further added, "The representatives of the management assured that all the issues of cabin crew raised before the management and during conciliation proceedings will be looked into and resolved."
