Hajipur: Following the uproar over Bihar Minister Abdul Jalil Mastan's controversial comment on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, Union Minister of Urban Development, Venkaiah Naidu tore into the Congress leader questioning how he became a politician in the first place.
"This party (Congress) has been reacting this way ever since it has come in power. They have been calling names to the Prime Minister from the day he held his office. I don`t know how they have made this person a minister. This is the standard of the Congress Party. They have such person in their party, said Naidu.
"He referred Prime Minister as a dacoit, and then he further put up a picture of Modi ji and opened it to the public, asking the masses to throw shoes at it. All this shows that Congress party has resorted to new and unimaginable lows", added Naidu.
Meanwhile, a complaint has also been filed in Hajipur Court against the Bihar Minister on his comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier in the day, Abdul Jalil Mastan had apologised after he was caught on camera asking his supporters to beat up a picture of Modi with shoes.
"I apologise if my statement or statements of my people have hurt anyone," Mastan said.
Mastan's video went viral where he was heard calling the Prime Minister a 'naxalite' and a 'dacoit'.
The video shows Mastan inciting his supporters following which his supporters beat up a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with slippers and also hurling verbal abuses on him.The video was reportedly shot on February 22 during a protest rally against demonetisation in Purnia district.
Mastan can be heard calling Prime Minister Modi a 'dacoit' for 'stealing people's money' after demonetisation.
BJP leaders have demanded the removal of Mastan from the party and asserted that he had a history of controversial statements and actions that would have landed anyone else in jail.
