Patna: The crack between Bihar's ruling allies JD(U) and RJD seems to be widening by the day.
Now, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's party has decided not to participate in RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's 'BJP hatao, desh bachao' rally in Patna on August 27.
"It's RJD's rally, not a joint rally so why should we take part?" said Shyam Rajak, JD(U) on Sunday, as per ANI.
However, he added, "Our alliance remains strong."
As per media reports, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav among others are expected to attend the rally.
Earlier, JD(U)'s decision to support NDA's presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind and not the Opposition candidate Meira Kumar of Congress, had not gone down well with RJD chief.
Lalu had said on June 22 said that its ally the JD(U)'s call to support Kovind was "a wrong decision", adding he would appeal to Nitish not to commit "a historic blunder", as per PTI.
On June 23, the RJD chief and Opposition parties had also appealed to Kumar to reconsider the JD(U)'s support to Kovind but he stood his ground.
Also, on Friday night, Nitish sent his minister to attend the midnight rollout rollout of GST.
The event was boycotted by RJD and Congress.
