PATNA: The security cover of former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has been downgraded by the Centre. Yadav, who had been assigned ‘Z Plus’-category security with commandos from the NSG (National Security Guard) h as now been given Z -category security.
All NSG personnel in Lalu Prasad Yadav’s detail will be withdrawn and the CRPF will be responsible for providing the security cover now. This is also an aberration as Z-category protectees are usually covered by the state police personnel.
Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son and former Bihar minister, Tej Pratap reacted angrily to the development.

The Union Home Ministry has also withdrawn the security cover provided to former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi. Manjhi was in the Z-Plus category and had CRPF cover. He’ll depend on the Bihar Police for his security. The state government has assigned personnel of the Special Security Group (SSG) which will continue as a part of Jitan Ram Manjhi’s detail.
Tej Pratap Yadav’s ‘Little’ Threat to Sushil Modi
Tej Pratap Yadav, who had allegedly threatened to disrupt the wedding of Sushil Modi's son, on Sunday said he was "not a criminal or terrorist" and the Bihar Deputy chief minister should continue with the function "without any worry or fear".
His remarks came a day after the Deputy CM's office announced that the venue of the December 3 wedding had been changed to Veterinary College ground (near Patna airport) from Shakha Maidan in Rajendra Nagar due to "security reasons".
In the video that surfaced last week, Yadav was seen delivering a speech in Aurangabad and saying: "I have been invited by Sushil Modi to attend the wedding of his son. If I go there I will expose him in public."
On Sunday, RJD chief Lalu Yadav said Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi’s apprehensions were unfounded. “What kind of deputy CM is Sushil Modi? He is afraid of a little threat from Tej. My son doesn’t have such bad values that he will cause problems at someone’s wedding, “ he quipped.
