Researchers believe they have found evidence of consumption on an astronomical scale -- the 'fossil' remnants of a galaxy that was gobbied up by the galaxy which cobntainsb our solar system. The earth orbits one of the 100 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy, which is itself only one of 100 billion galaxies inthe visible universe. The mistery is how galaxies form in the first place.
