Uttaranchal is scouting for foreign investments to tap vast resources of power generation in the newly formed state, Power Minister Bhagat Singh Koshiyari has said.
“Our estimate suggests that over 15,000 MW of power can be produced in our state. We are asking foreign multinational giants in power sector to come here and invest,” Koshiyari told reporters.
He said that once these resources are exploited, the state can earn a revenue of Rs 2000 crore every year.
“Although, the state has vast potential for tourism, indigenous medicinal herbs, I believe that power sector is the biggest revenue resource of Uttaranchal,” He said.
State government has decided to set up Uttaranchal Power Corporation and Uttaranchal Hydro-Power Corporation to exploit these resources, he said.
