the Ansals, who own Uphaar cinema, have filed a Rs 6.55 crore damages suit against the Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB) for June 13, 1997 fire tragedy in to which 59 people were killed and over 104 injured. ''It was not the Uphaar cinema transformer but the DVB's green park transformer that caught fire and caused the tragedy. The gross negligence on the part of DVB resulted in grave loss of human lives and the DVB alone is the cause.'' The petition by Ansals theatres and club hotels limited came at then Delhi High Court came five months after the Association of Victims of Uphaar Tragedy (AVUT) sought compensation totaling Rs 122 crore for the relatives of victims.
