Agassi, who is defending his title at the Open, beat Kafelnikov, 6-3 3-6 6-3 in 75 minutes.
The pair also played in last year's Australian Open final with Agassi winning that in four sets. After Agassi won the opening set Kafelnikov fought back to level the sets.

Agassi got an early break for 3-1 in the final set, only for Kafelnikov to break back for 3-2.
Kafelnikov had a shaky game in the eighth game and a double fault and two long forehands gave Agassi the decisive break to lead 5-3.
Agassi raced to 40-0 and three match points on his final service to take the final.
