New Delhi: Bigg Boss contestant Armaan Kohli's name is known to be synonym with controversies. The actor has landed himself in trouble several times in the past because of his bad temper.
The 'Jaani Dushman' actor has been making headlines once again, all for the wrong reasons. Recently, the actor's live-in partner and model Neeru Randhawa filed a police complaint against him in Santacruz police station for physically assaulting her. Following the complaint, a manhunt was launched against the actor, who had gone missing after the filing of the complaint against him.
On Wednesday, reports had surfaced that Armaan, 46, was arrested by the Mumbai Police after he reportedly stepped out from his friend's farmhouse, where he had been hiding all these while, to buy a SIM card.
But now the latest report suggests that Armaan's girlfriend Neetu has withdrawn the complaint against him. However, the case against the actor will proceed as stipulated as an FIR can be withdrawn only with the court's approval.
A Bollywoodlife.com report suggests that the Bandra court has rejected the bail plea of the actor and has sent him to judicial custody till June 26. The duo had been living together since 2015. Neeru had also shared Armaan's text messages to cops which the actor had sent to her after she filed a complaint against him.
The report claimed that apparently, Armaan had requested Neeru to return and also promised to marry her right away. As per the complainant, she was in a relationship with Kohli for past three years and had been living with him in a flat in the suburb.
The duo had an argument over some monetary issue at their residence and during the altercation, he allegedly pushed the woman and she fell from the stairs. The accused then pulled her hair and banged her head on the floor, a police officer said citing the complaint.
She suffered head and knee injuries in the incident and was admitted to a hospital by her driver, reports suggest. The wound was so deep that the actress had to undergo a surgery.
Talking about the physical assault, Neeru had told Bombay Times, "I manage Armaan’s villa in Goa, which is often rented out, and had made a booking for a client. However, the client had made the payment to the villa staff and when Armaan asked me about the money, I told him that I will ask the staff to transfer it. Suddenly, he started verbally abusing me. Before I realised what was happening, he caught me by my hair and banged my head against the floor. I begged him to allow me to go to the hospital, promising that I wouldn’t approach the police. The wound was so deep that I had to undergo a surgery. The doctor told me that the scar would be visible even after the surgery, as the assault has damaged my skin tissues."
"Upon being informed about the incident, we went to the hospital and recorded the statement of the woman. Based on the statement, we booked him under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and other relevant sections of the IPC," said Shantanu Pawar, senior police inspector, Santacruz.
Kohli garnered limelight after he appeared in the seventh season of super-hit reality show 'Bigg Boss' hosted by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
Soon after the show, Kohli bagged the role of an antagonist in Salman-starrer 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo', a film directed by Sooraj Barjatya in 2015.
Son of filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli, Armaan began his acting career as a child artiste and later went on to do films like 'Virodhi', 'Dushman Zamana', 'Anaam', 'Koyal', 'Kohra', 'Dushmani', 'Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani' etc to name a few as the lead actor.
He made headlines during 'Bigg Boss 7' over his relationship with co-contestant Tanishaa Mukerji, daughter of veteran actress Tanuja. Armaan and Tanishaa were in a relationship for a brief period but headed for splitsville soon.
