Mumbai: Director Nitesh Tiwari, who has roped in Aamir Khan for "Dangal", says he never writes a script keeping an actor in mind.
"When we started writing for this film, we didn't keep any actor in mind. It doesn't make any sense to write a film keeping any actor in mind because you get influenced and you write the script according to their strength and weaknesses.
"I wanted to be honest with my writing," Tiwari told reporters in a group interview.
He revealed that soon after finishing the script, the first actor who came to his mind to essay the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat was Aamir Khan.
"After finishing the final script I went to Ronnie Screwvala and Siddarth Roy Kapoor and they asked let's keep practicality and realities aside and tell me with whom would you like to make this film. I didn't take much time and said Aamir. I don't think there was any reason to disagree," he said.
"Dangal" is an Indian biographical sports drama. It sees Aamir portraying the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat.
