New Delhi: The iconic RK Studios in Chembur, built by Raj Kapoor nearly 70 years ago was in news last year when a major fire broke out on sets of a TV show. The property was initially supposed to be re-built but veteran actor Rishi Kapoor confirmed in August that RK Studios was up for sale. Looks like the deal is about to be closed as a source confirmed to DNA that the Kapoor clan might sell the property to Godrej properties.
Sources further told DNA that negotiations are in the final stages and once an investigation of ownership rights of the Kapoor siblings is conducted, the property shall be registered.
DNA quotes representatives from Godrej, "As a matter of company policy, we do not comment on market speculation,"
The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated at the property by the Kapoor Khandaan last month. As per a Bollywoodlife report, Randhir Kapoor spoke to the press on the occasion and couldn't hold back his emotions about selling the studio. The report further stated that Kapoor said he and his family were sad that they have to sell the studio but after the fire, it is nearly impossible for them to revive the production house and revamp the place.
