Mumbai: Indian TV’s adorable Naagin – Mouni Roy, who is all set to make her Bollywood this year in Reema Kagti’s Gold starring Akshay Kumar has reportedly bagged another big film.
The pretty lady has been signed for one of the films in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra trilogy.
According to a report in After Hrs, Brahmastra starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles will have Mouni essaying a negative character.
“Alia will obviously play the damsel in distress, who is Ranbir’s love interest in the trilogy. But Mouni will play a villain in the first part. Her character will have shades of grey,” After Hrs quoted a source as saying.
Mukerji’s ambitious fantasy fiction will also star legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan.
After directing two coming-of-age movies such as, Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ayan will helm the fantasy adventure series, backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
In the movie, Ranbir will play a character with special powers and Ayan said it is not a typical costume clad- superhero film.
"It's a modern-day film set in India as it exists today. But the reason it's called Brahmastra is because the energies, wisdom, powers in the film come from ancient India. That's all I would say. There are some costumes, (but) may be not the way you'd expect them to be," he said.
The first part of the series will release on August 15, 2019 and Ayan said he has devoted everything to the film.
