PadMan is directed by R. Balki, and also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in pivotal roles. On the other hand, Padmaavat directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali features Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. The movie, unfortunately, has been in the eye of storm since its inception.

PadMan is inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu who created low-cost sanitary napkins by a machine he had developed. Akshay was on the sets of Bigg Boss 11 grand finale where he and Salman Khan made sanitary pads on stage by using the same machine. Arunachalam revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India and the movie will narrate his tale on celluloid.

Padmaavat is reportedly based on the epic Awadhi poem Padmavat composed by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi in 1540.

Shahid Kapoor plays Maharawal Ratan Singh, a brave Rajput warrior. Ranveer Singh portrays Alauddin Khilji, the antagonist in the story and Deepika Padukone plays Rani Padmavati.

Several Rajput organisations protested against the film believing that Padmavati had a dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji. The filmmaker and other members of the production team clarified that the film doesn’t contain any objectionable content and that it upholds the pride and glory of the Rajput community.

The CBFC gave clearance to the film after much debate and discussion and the makers finally announced the new release date a couple of days back.

Padmaavat was initially slated to release on December 1, 2017.

Both PadMan and Padmaavat have been highly-awaited. It will be interesting to see which movie gets more collections on the opening day.
