Mumbai: Former Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihalani who made headlines for all wrong reasons, is all set to distribute Deepak Shivdasani’s ‘Julie 2’ starring Raai Laxmi.
Nihalani was often criticised for being unduly sanskari. His moves as the CBFC (Central Board for Film Certification) often irked filmmakers. And now, ironically, he is gearing up to distribute a bold film like ‘Julie 2’ which has bold scenes.
While talking to Mumbai Mirror, Nihalani said, “My last films were Sridevi’s Tamil film Puli, followed by the 2016 Iranian-Indian drama Salaam Mumbai. My family loved Julie 2, it’s a bold thriller about how talented people come into the industry and then are forced to compromise. It’s a good expose with a message for aspiring actors who come from across the county and don’t get the right people or platform.”
Explaining why ‘Julie 2’ should be cleared without cuts, Nihalani said, “Julie 2 should be given an ‘A’ certificate without any cuts. There is no vulgarity, obscenity or even a language problem.”
Nihalani apparently didn’t object to the bold scenes because he feels it’s a content-driven film.

For the uninitiated, Nihalani was replaced as the CBFC chairperson by lyricist Prasoon Joshi a few weeks back.
