New Delhi: Renowned auteur Satyajit Ray, hailed as one of the greatest filmmakers ever is revered for his craft and skills. BBC Culture released a list of 100 best foreign films of all times and it's no surprise to see Ray's masterpiece 'Pather Panchali' grab a spot in it.
'Pather Panchali' released in 1955 and is based on Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay's 1929 Bengali eponymous novel. The movie marked Ray's directorial debut into Indian cinema. The movie happens to be the first part of the famous 'Apu Trilogy'.
According to IndianExpress.com, as many 209 critics in 43 countries were polled to come out with the best in world cinema of the 21st century.
Ray's 'Pather Panchali' is the only Indian film to have made to the coveted list of Best Foreign Films.
