Deepika, Katrina onboard Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’?

New Delhi: Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who wished to make ‘Bajirao Mastani’ a decade and half ago, will be reviving his ambitious project once again if things go as they are being planned. A daily reports that Bhansali has convinced arch rivals Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif for the film. Although the information has been revealed through industry grapevine, a final word from the director is still awaited. But the question is, if the buzz turns out to be true, would Ranbir Kapoor be the one to play the male lead – Bajirao – in the film? We have to wait for the makers to reveal the facts. Interestingly, Deepika has earlier dated Ranbir but the duo patched-up later to be just friends. And now, it is Katrina, whom Ranbir has allegedly lost his heart to. So, all this means that if the trio get roped-in for ‘Bajirao Mastani’, it is going to be like ‘Silsila Part 2’. Bhansali has had a tough time casting for this dream project of his. In 1999, it was the then real life couple Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai, who were supposed to do the film but their break up resulted in postponement of the project. In 2000, when Kareena Kapoor entered Bollywood, Bhansali thought he had finally found his Mastani in Bebo. But before the film maker could proceed to realise his dream, he had fallout with the actress over certain issues. ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is a period drama focusing on the love story between Peshwa Bajirao and his beloved Mastani.
