Yay, it’s Godzilla! Unless you’re a petrol-head, it’s likely that you don’t get why we’re excited about a monster, but for those in the know, there’s plenty of reason to rejoice. The new GT-R was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show in March this year with the outgoing edition showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo just a few weeks prior. Now, with supercar performance comes a supercar price and we’re not even talking about the final sticker tag here. The booking amount itself is a princely Rs 25 lakh, but then again, that money is to reserve your own piece of next-level engineering.

The GT-R is powered by Nissan’s state-of-the-art 3.8-litre, V6, 24-valve, twin-turbocharged engine that produces 570PS of power at 6,800rpm and 637Nm of torque. Handcrafted by master craftsmen in Japan called Takumi, in a clean-room environment, the GT-R’s engine comes mated with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that transmits the power to all-four wheels. This combination propels the car from 0-100kmph in less than three seconds. For reference, the Porsche 911’s range-topping GT3 RS, which has just been unveiled in India, does the same run in 3.3 seconds.

In India, the GT-R will be offered in the European-spec ‘Premium Edition’ and will be available in Katsura Orange (new for 2017), Vibrant Red, Pearl Black, Storm White, Daytona Blue, Gun Metallic and Ultimate Silver, with matching leather trim.

What’s the final price you ask? Well, in the USA, the GT-R costs $109,990 (approximately Rs 73.69 lakh). Given the heavy duty levied on directly-imported cars in India, we can safely place the GT-R at a price of around Rs 1.5-2 crore. Still planning to buy that 3BHK flat?
