Kawasaki Ninja 300 KRT special edition launched in India

India Kawasaki Motors (IKM) has silently launched the new Ninja 300 KRT edition in India. The special edition motorcycle features a unique green-black livery, inspired by the Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT), participating in the World Superbike Championship, and has been priced at Rs 3.61 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The company has not released any official statement on the launch yet, however, some of the Kawasaki dealerships in the country are offering this new edition. Most probably, it will replace the existing anniversary edition of the bike from the market which was launched in November 2015.

Apart from the visual update, there is no mechanical alteration in the motorcycle and the KRT edition remains the same Kawasaki Ninja 300 which you might have ridden earlier. Built on a semi-double cradle, high-tensile steel frame, the full-faired sportbike gets power from a 296cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin, DOHC engine. The fuel injected motor gets dual 32mm throttle bodies to deliver 39PS at 11,000rpm and a peak torque of 27Nm at 10,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed transmission using an Assist & Slipper clutch assembly for trouble-free up and down-shifts at high speeds.

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 comes with 37mm telescopic forks at the front and 5-way adjustable preload monoshock at the rear. The front wheel gets an 110/70 section tyre along with a 290mm petal disc brake, while the rear gets 140/70 section rubber and a smaller 220mm disc. Weighing 172kg, the bike misses the ABS feature and has a top speed of over 160kmph. In the Indian market, it directly competes with the Yamaha R3, which misses on both the ABS and the slipper clutch. On the other hand, KTM RC 390 is a more track-focused bike but gets both the features and comes with a much lesser price tag.
