Mumbai: The 14th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards weekend will not be held in Vancouver next year.
The Canadian city is no longer in running for the 2013 IIFA weekend, Andre Timmins, director of Wizcraft and IIFA said.
"Finances, logistics and several other factors could not be met to hold an event like IIFA in Vancouver at this point. Hosting an IIFA in any destination must meet the interests of Indian Cinema. It must help promote co-productions, better distribution, filming incentives," he said.
It would have been a compromise to host it in Vancouver, especially after the successful staging in Toronto in 2011, he said.
Vancouver was a leading bidder as the host city for the 2013 event. A delegation had visited the IIFA team with a proposal, but the deal could not materialise.
