New Delhi: Heating up the competition in the small car segment in India, Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the Alto 800 facelift in India on Wednesday.


It was roumored that the car will be showcased in the Delhi Auto Expo in February, but that was not the case.


The new Alto will enter the Indian market ahead of the Datusn Redi-GO, which is slated for a June launch.


The Alto 800 facelift is expected to have  new front-grille with mild tweak on the front and  rear bumpers, new turn indicators, fog lamp enclosures and revised wheel caps. The tail lamps are also slightly revised. The facelift is seemigly slightly longer than the existing model.


The company has not made sweeping changes in interior. Some features like additional storage space and child safety lock, and new fabric for the seats have been added.


Though safety will have a priority. Maruti Alto 800 facelift will come with driver airbag as optional across all trims.


The car continues to be powered by 796cc, three-cylinder, petrol engine tuned to produce 47bhp at 6000 rpm and 69Nm of torque 3500rpm as the old one. The 5-speed manual transmission also stays.


Maruti Suzuki currently offers Alto in both petrol and CNG version, and will continue to do so in the Alto 800 facelift.
