New Delhi: In the aftermath of the emission scandal, Volkswagen India has directed its dealers not to sell or deliver any of its popular hatchback Polo in India with immediate effect.

In a letter address to dealers across the country, Volkswagen is said told them not to 'physically deliver' any Polo cars in India.

The letter, addressed to dealers and available with the Economic Times and signed by two Senior Volkswagen officials - Ashish Gupta, Head of After Sales - Operations and Pankaj Sharma, Head of Sales Operations, is said to have read, "We request, not to physically deliver any Polo vehicle (all variants) with immediate effect till further notice from VW”.

However, according to ET, the company has clarified that this action has nothing to do with recent emission software scandal that rocked the German auto company.

Volkswagen has been in the face of controversy in recent times following the emission cheating software that has come under the scan of regulators across the globe.

Following the scandal, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn resigned from his position and is likely to face probe.
