We’ve seen a fair share of special edition Polos and Ventos in India and the German carmaker has now launched two more – the Polo Select and Vento Celeste. While Volkswagen is calling them ‘limited edition’ cars, they are essentially kits with exclusive features that can be added to the Highline manual transmission variants of both models and the Highline DSG variant of the Vento as well.
Both cars get black body-side moulding, carbon-fibre finish wing-mirrors, and a black roof foil. The Polo Select gets a trunk garnish, while the Vento Celeste sports a boot-lip spoiler. Jump into the cabin and both models get detachable window blinds, a carbon-fibre finish centre console and textile mats.
A touchscreen infotainment system with Blaupunkt radio and navigation is exclusive to the Vento Celeste and only the Polo Select is offered with 4 scuff plates and it also gets seat covers with the Volkswagen logo.
The kits will be available across all Volkswagen dealerships in India and since both cars are based on the top-of-the-line variants of the Polo and Vento, ABS and dual airbags come as standard. Prices will vary from city to city. Mumbai dealers report a premium of Rs 16000 for the Polo Select and Rs 45000 for the Vento Celeste, over their respective Highline variants.
Neither car features any mechanical updates. The Vento is available with a 1.6-litre MPI and a 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine, along with the 1.5-litre TDI motor, while the Polo can be had with a 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine and 1.5-litre TDI mill.
