Washington: In the latest, Volkswagen’s US chief is stepping down amid emissions cheating scandal that the company is embroiled in presently.

Michael Horn’s exit  comes as a  major blow to the company that is already grappling with the fallout after it admitted last year that about 60,000 cars that were sold in the US were designed to cheat on the emission tests.

Volkswagen Group of America announced that Michael Horn is leaving “to pursue other opportunities effective immediately.”

He had been with the German auto maker for 25 years, assuming his most recent post in 2014.
