Veteran cinematographer Rajen Kothari died on Wednesday following a massive cardiac arrest. He was 60.

Mumbai: Veteran cinematographer Rajen Kothari died on Wednesday following a massive cardiac arrest. He was 60. After working in films like Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Ghayal’, Shyam Benegal’s ‘Zubeida’ and ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’, Kothari was heading the cinematography department at Whistling Woods for seven years. Kothari started his career with Prakash Jha`s ‘Hip Hip Hurray’ and later shot’ Damul’ for the veteran director. His last film was a Marathi biopic of saint ‘Tukaram’. Kothari was said to have collapsed at the film school on Wednesday and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. Speaking to a tabloid, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit said, “Rajen was perfectly fine till Tuesday. His demise is a big loss to the film industry.”
