Here is why Xiaomi smartphones are not water-resistant!

New Delhi: Xiaomi is one of the fastest growing smartphone companies in the world thanks its spectacular features and low pricing.

And while Xiaomi smartphones are know for their features, what one must have or failed to realised is that, the devices are not water-resistant.

Water-resistance is an essential part and feature in almost every smartphone available in the market today. However, Xiaomi has stayed away from manufacturing it. And now, the company's founder Lin Jun explains why!

According to Jun, despite the high amount of requests from customers for Xiaomi to come with a water-resistant smartphone, the company hasn't for various reasons.

Water-resistance doesn't really guarantee long life or safety of the device, Jun explains. Moreover, a minor damage of the phone can render the water-proofing ineffective, he further explains.

Jun also stated that waterproofing a phone will increase its manufacturing cost by up to 20-30 percent thereby leading to a hike in the price of the device.

If customers are willing to pay that higher price, the company will think about making water-resistant smartphones, Jun says.
