London: Veteran actor-director Robert De Niro is hoping to star in a sequel to 1988 comedy thriller ‘Midnight Run’.
The 68-year-old, who starred in the original film, said he is eager to shoot a follow up to the cult classic, in which he played a bounty hunter attempting to capture a mob accountant, reported Daily Star.
"Somebody approached me, a young writer and he said, `I`m writing a sequel if you want to (read it)`. And I said, `Sure! Fine.` So it`s been going through these kind of changes... And so that`s where we are and the script is being re-worked again. But I hope to do it. It was a lot of fun to do," De Niro said.
‘Midnight Run’ was directed and produced by Martin Brest.
It`s not the only sequel De Niro would consider. He said he is open to starring in a sequel to cult hit ‘Raging Bull’.
"If somebody comes up with a great, great script, I`d read it and say, `Yeah, it`s great, I`ll think about it`."
