London: Former Bond Girl Britt Ekland knows what it takes to be a sex symbol and approves Mila Kunis’ title as the world’s most desirable woman.
Ekland, 70, famous for her show-stopping appearance in 1974 Bond flick ‘The Man With The Golden Gun,’ was widely regarded as the hottest woman on the planet in her heyday.
While Kunis is a brunette, both have the same luscious lips and doe-eyed beauty, and Swedish-born Ekland is happy to hand the baton to the gorgeous ‘Black Swan’ star.
Speaking from her Los Angeles home, the screen icon reveals the similarities between the pair.
“Mila is fantastic. She is lovely, petite and wonderful. And she’s a modern, smart young person,” the Sun quoted her as saying.
“We are both foreigners. We both come from very far away places and that colours one’s upbringing. It gives you an honesty and integrity.
“I was brought up very conservatively. My father was positively Victorian - I wasn’t even allowed to wear my hair down. I made up for it later, though. I’m no angel,” she said.
She said that Kunis, who moved from the Ukraine as a child, is different from those born in Hollywood.
“I moved here from Sweden in 1964 when I was 21. God only knows what would have happened if I had grown up here,” she said.
Her image is not too overtly sexy, which is very popular in this town. You don’t see her getting into car crashes, drugs and arrests.
“And the whole idea that because it’s Hollywood you have to be blonde and have big boobs and be inappropriately dressed, I don’t see that with her,” she said.
Ekland likes the way Kunis dresses up for the Golden Globes and the Oscars, and when she is dressing casually for herself.
“You don’t see her go out in Lady Gaga-style shoes,” she said.
“Apart from our foreign background I think we are both quite natural and there was a certain innocence about coming from abroad.
“She can be like steel but she also has an innocence that is very appealing. Women like her too because she’s not threatening. I think I was popular with women too in that way,” she added.
Ekland likes that Kunis is very natural and funny, adding that she wasn’t allowed to be funny in the Sixties, as she had to be a “sex kitten.”
“She’s very attractive but she’s not someone who you go: ‘Oh my God. Here she goes again.’
“She manages to be taken seriously and I think a lot of that comes from where she grew up, where she comes from.
“I think she’s a good role model,” she said.
