Mumbai: Director Imtiaz Ali, who directed ‘Rockstar’, based on the life of a singer, reveals he had once taken up music lessons for sometime, but then he gave it up for his love for cricket.
"I used to learn Indian classical vocals when I was very young. The problem was it would happen at the same time when I went down to play cricket. So, ultimately over a few months, cricket won," the 41-year-old said here Monday at the launch of Chandrima Pal`s book ‘A Song For I.’
"I think I must have learnt (music) for a year and of course, it took me less than a year to forget everything. I learnt raag Bhairav and raag Bhopali. I learnt these two raags first and there was a third one that I don`t even remember," he added.
Besides ‘Rockstar’, Imtiaz has directed three films – ‘Socha Na Tha’, ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Love Aaj Kal’. Interestingly, the music of his films has always struck a chord with viewers.
