Mumbai: All of a sudden a Bollywood struggler of 7 years, Nupur Mehta has come under the spot light for all the wrong reasons. A yet unknown figure of the showbiz industry, Nupur grabbed headlines for match fixing.
Soon after the starlets’ morphed image was splashed on London’s Sunday Times in the involvement of cricket match fixing scandal, Nupur seems to have become media’s hot favourite.
When a reporter from Zee News approached Nupur, the glamorous actress in full make-up rubbished allegations of her involvement with match-fixing and her role in luring cricketers into throwing games.
The newspaper carried out a sting operation on a Delhi-based bookie called Vicky Seth, who claimed that the Indian bookmakers are fixing the results of England county games and international fixtures and they are using a Bollywood actress as a honey trap to recruit players from countries. The report also claimed that India`s semi-final match with Pakistan in last year`s World Cup was rigged.
When this reporter asked Nupur if she was aware of anyone called Vicky Seth, Nupur said, “I don’t know anyone by the name of Vicky, the name is as mysterious to me as you. I don’t know anything about match-fixing.”
When asked if she was present in Mohali last year when the match between India and Pakistan was being played, the actress denied saying she was home watching the match on TV. According to earlier interviews of the starlet, Nupur happens to be a great cricket fan.
The actress dressed in a black knee length outfit said that she had no relation with the match fixing scandal; however she offered to extend full co-operation to the ICC or any investigating agency looking into the matter to solve the case.
