The Domestic Energy Lighting Program of Power Ministry has gone all out to promote replacing LED bulbs with all the other category of lights and bulbs all across the country.
Electricity Distribution Company and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) under Goyal's ministry is also giving bulbs for at discounts at Rs 100 or 105, cheaper than the market price between Rs 250 to Rs 400.
It is also offering 3-year free-of-cost replacement. One can buy LED bulbs either under an EMI scheme in which one can pay Rs 10 as an advance per bulb, and pay balance Rs 95 per bulb in 10 easy monthly installments, or pay Rs 100 upfront per bulb.
One also would need to furnish basic documents like a copy of electricity bill, photo ID proof & proof of address etc. to avail the scheme.
EESL claimed that LED bulbs provided under the scheme consume only one-tenth of energy compared to bulbs available in the market.
It also said that using these LEDs can reduce electricity bills by up to Rs 160 to Rs 400 per bulb.
